Facial Implant

Facial surgery is done to bring the face into balance by building up the chin, cheeks, or jaw.

Cheek implants are used, along with other facial implants, in order to reshape or reconstruct facial contours. They can be made of a variety of materials, including silicone, and are sometimes inserted in conjunction with a face lift or other surgical procedure. By itself, cheek implant surgery usually takes less than an hour when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.

Cheek implants, like breast implants, vary in size and shape according to the desired results. To place them, your surgeon will make an incision inside your mouth or in the lower eyelid to minimize or eliminate visible scarring. If other facial procedures are being performed simultaneously, implants may be inserted through incisions made for those operations.

Recovery from cheek implant surgery can take several weeks, and you will be instructed to limit certain types of eating and strenuous activities. It may take several months for swelling to completely subside and your new profile to be fully realized, especially if you undergo multiple procedures during the same operation.

Cheek implants are usually inserted through an incision in the mouth and placed directly on or below the cheekbone. Implants can vary in size and shape.
