Our Medical Aesthetician at Lohner Skin Care sees patients from Bryn Mawr, Main Line, Rosemont, Philadelphia, and other cities throughout Pennsylvania for VI Peels.
What is a VI Peel?
The VI Peel, a product of the Vitality Institute’s skin care system, contains a pharmaceutical strength fusion of ingredients that are suitable for all skin types. The combination of TCA, Tretinoic Acid (Retin-A), Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C, and a blend of minerals is designed to effectively improve skin tone, clarity, and texture. VI Peels soften fine lines and wrinkles and reduce or eliminate acne, acne scars, age spots, and freckles. It can also be used to treat hyper-pigmentation conditions, including melasma, and rosacea. When a VI Peel is performed collagen production is stimulated, which enhances the tell-tale sign of a youthful face: smooth, firm skin.
Best thing I’ve done in a long time! Thank you SO much!!
How is a VI Peel Performed?
The peel is typically performed on the face and appropriate for use around the eye area. It may also be safely performed on the chest, hands, back, and arms. No pain and little downtime accompany the VI Peel. Prior to the treatment, no skin preparation is needed.
First the skin is cleansed and the VI Peel is applied to the area. The procedure takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes in the office, but the topical product must be left on the skin for five hours afterwards. It will be washed off at home.
VI Peels also compliment other procedures. The treatment can be performed in conjunction with injectables, laser skin treatments, or following facial plastic surgery.
When Will Results Be Noticed?
Unlike some other chemical peels and skin treatments, the VI Peel results in refreshed skin relatively quickly. Patients experience light peeling of the skin for 2 to 3 days after the procedure. Resisting the urge to pull at the peeling skin and avoiding use of exfoliants will help to yield optimal results. A post-peel kit is provided to help manage the flaking skin. Younger, healthier looking skin is seen in about a week, sometimes sooner, and the skin will continue to improve over the course of 4 to 6 weeks.
What are the Side Effects of a VI Peel?
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not undergo a VI Peel. Patients with allergies to TCA, Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, and/or Vitamin C are also not candidates for this procedure. Some patients report a slight stinging of the skin during the procedure while others feel a warm, tingly sensation. The skin may appear red or tan following application of the VI Peel. This is only temporary.
How Long Will the Results of a VI Peel Last?
Generally only one treatment is needed to achieve the desired effect; however, the VI Peel may be repeated every 2 weeks until the preferred results are reached. Two to four peels per year are recommended for prolonged results. A quality skin care regimen at home and sun protection will help to ensure the results are long lasting.
