Conveniently located to serve Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr, PA
As we age, the body begins to accumulate fat. Soft, unsightly fatty tissue may form on the stomach, legs, buttocks, arms, and neck. Sometimes no amount of diet and exercise can make a difference with these unwanted bulges. Surgical intervention may be required to bring back a youthful figure and tight facial contour.
VASER is a new and effective treatment used on the back, abdomen, neck, arms, chin, cheeks, buttocks, or legs, which targets the dissolution and removal of denser fatty tissue in these regions. Once the fatty tissue has been removed, the skin will retract, resulting in a smoother, tighter, more natural-looking appearance.
Benefits of VASER Liposuction:
- Excellent results seen from a single procedure.
- Better contouring than a traditional Liposuction procedure.
- Quick recovery time.
- Removes a large amount of stored fat.
- Even difficult areas, such as the arms and back, can be successfully treated.

The VASER Liposuction Procedure
Dr. Lohner performs all of his VASER Liposuction procedures in the Bryn Mawr Hospital Surgicenter. During the procedure, either a local anesthetic or a general anesthetic will be used. This procedure will usually take between one and two hours to complete. The Tumescent fluid (a combination of Saline, Lidocaine, and Epinephrine) used in the VASER Liposuction contains excellent numbing agents, which will also numb the area being treated.
To begin, Dr. Lohner will inject the Tumescent fluid into the second layer of fat, through predetermined incisions. Next, using the VASER Probe, ultrasonic energy will be used to treat the targeted tissues. A traditional suction cannula (hollow tube) is used to remove the resolved fat from the body. Once the desired contour is achieved, Dr. Lohner will suture the incision for proper healing.
Potential risks from the VASER Liposuction procedure
The VASER Liposuction procedure is considered extremely safe. Since the nerves and blood vessels are not disturbed in the process, there is little bruising or pain. On the rare chance, more serious complications can occur. The risks of VASER Liposuction Procedure can include excessive bleeding, infection, and contour irregularities. Risks and complications from a VASER Liposuction procedure are significantly reduced by selecting a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, like Dr. Lohner.
The recovery after a VASER Lipo procedure
The VASER Liposuction procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, so patients are home resting that same afternoon. Initially, some mild pain may be experienced, but Dr. Lohner will prescribe appropriate pain medications to keep his patients resting comfortably at home. Some swelling and stiffness can be expected. Slight drainage from the incision sites is normal; this is the last of the Tumescent fluid draining out. This can occur for one to two days after the operation. A compression garment may be worn for several weeks, to promote proper healing. Bruising can be noted at early in the recovery process, but will quickly fade.
In four to seven days, patients generally feel well enough to return to work. After about two weeks, gentle exercise can be resumed, but strenuous activities should wait for up to four weeks. After 10 days, patients should begin softly massaging the treated areas, smoothing out contouring irregularities and controlling swelling. A follow-up visit will be scheduled four days after the procedure, for Dr. Lohner to check on the patient’s healing progress.
Vaser Liposuction Testimonial

I have had an excellent experience with Dr. Lohner and his staff. I had a Vaser Liposuction of my abdomen and lumbar region and a bilateral breast augmentation with sub-glandular implants. He was very detailed and very thorough in the consultation and listened carefully to my questions and concerns and advised me well on how to proceed based on my goals. I recovered quickly after surgery and the post operative care was excellent! I would highly recommend his office to anyone in the future. Other doctors have even complemented the work, scar placement, size, and healing.
